This is my script, I typed on Word. I made sure to include all aspects of the questions, as if this was a real interview.
Component 1
When producing this film opening, we challenged conventions by using twisting and unexpected turns to keep viewers engaged. For example, we used themes that some people may be uncomfortable with or even seem controversial. Like violence, a child being left home alone, and people being abducted. My film is a horror film based on the dangers of leaving your child home alone at night. The little girl gets kidnapped, which builds the plot for the rest of our horror movie. The social group issues are represented by depicting a young girl from an upper socio-economic background. She lives in a big house that is nicely decorated and dressed up innocently. The young girl may be targeted by others, who may resent this social group. The film uses a plethora of conventions from the horror movie genre such as the plot, costumes, mis-en-scene, and characters which attracts horror movie fans. Furthermore, the kidnapper does certain actions to scare the child such as breaking the glass and slowly walking into the room while she was hiding. The characters in this film are completely different, they have a significant age difference. This puts the child at a disadvantage and vulnerable, which is typical in how people view kidnapping.
Component 2
The audience is engaged by evoking an emotional response by the audience connecting to the story of a child being home alone and creating an uneasy feeling. Scenes include suspense on what will happen next, and there is tension to see what will happen to the character. Showing shock imagery and violence in our film has the audience’s heart rate go up. The film opening also keeps the audience wanting more as we leave off on a cliffhanger. To engage with the audience during the scenes, the kidnapper directly speaks to the audience and says, “keep your child safe.” This has the audience focused and engaged with the media. If this were a real media text and released, i would distribute it as a movie trailer. I would then create a small movie premier, so that i could release it to the world in a large-scale distribution in cinemas and theaters. This would help the media and our targeted audience to be aware of the release and gain full profit for this amazing horror film.
Component 3
During the production process, I developed my ability to fix mishaps. For example, When I was acting I would get out of character and start laughing while the camera was still recording. Furthermore, my partner and I, also faced many obstacles. After recording all of our scenes we releazied we didnt have enough footage to reach the 2 minute length. This led us to use our creativity and spontaneity to generate new scenes. For example, I came up with the “keep your child safe,” and the scenes of my partner dragging me across the floor. Another hurdle we faced, was figuring out how to use the camera and download the footage. Many scenes were shot several times. In order to make the film seamless, I reviewed the footage a plethora of times to perfect our scenes. We also had issues with lighting, so we improvised by putting a blanket on the window to cover the light. The red light in the bedroom scene wasn't and original part of our film, but it worked out great. It was hard to capture the image of the characters in such dark lighting. It also contributed to the horror movie genre because red conveys death. During the production process I included mise-en-scene. I picked out specific costumes to bring the characters to life and represent the character we were trying to portray. Playing the young girl, required her costume to look innocent and young. She wore mix match clothes, and fuzzy socks. Also, the girls hair was significant because her pig tails and bows portrayed a sense of innocence. Adding other props, like a teddy bear showed a childish side and something that comforted the young girl. However, the kidnapper’s costume was designed to include a mysterious cloak and mask, which makes the audience terrified. I feel more confident with my filming techniques and camera work, especially when finding the right camera angles and lighting for the scene to feel real. For instance, at the begning of the film, the girl brushes her teeth and then suddently turns around after sensing someone is there. This was captured by an Over the shoulder shot, which showed her true emotion when this occurred. In addition, a close up shot was also included to see the kidnappers eyes. This portrayed the idea that the antagonist had bad intentions behind the mask.

Technology was integrated with hardware like a Nikon D3500 camera, tripod, phones, skylight, and computers. The first night we filmed, my dad recorded us with his camera, the second night our classmate assisted in recording us. Unfortunately, our camera was having technical problems and we had to find an alternate method to record. I used my phone to record a couple of scenes. For the red lighting in the bedroom, we used a skylight created an eerie atmosphere and contributed to the horror elements of our film. To download the footage from the camera I had to insert the SD card to transfer all the files. This was a lengthy process, but I finally converted the footage to editing apps like I Movie, and Capcut. Capcut provided me with a variety of sounds and transitions to add in my film. I movie was best to add titles and text through out the film. Capcut also gave me the feature to have a voiceover, so it was incorpated in one of the scenes. I used my laptop to blog on blogger about every step of making our film.
