Production process

Hi blog, as Katie and I were filming we ran into a slight issue. Our scenes were very lengthy and were taking up too much of our opening. We decided to revise our storyboard and change our scenes. It took us longer than expected to record our first 2 scenes but we are coming in more prepared next Friday to film our next 3 scenes. We had my dad film us, since he uses this camera on a daily basis. I hope you are excited for our upcoming revised film opening!

Meeting up

Im back, and it's currently 9:00 and my partner Katie is on her way to my house. Our filming schedule is mainly during night hours because our setting of the film takes place at night. Before she arrives I made sure to prepare my costume (as the young girl). Both me and Katie had a few costume changes but we ended up finding the right choice. I decided to wear a more mix-match childish pj set to represent the innocence of a young girl.

issues rising

As Katie and I planned to film over spring break there has been a few issues. We needed a third person to help us film, in this case our friend lilah. She was unable to come and we had troubles getting together. Because of these issues, it caused a delay in our production process. We are moving forward now planning to film and edit on Saturday and Friday next week. We are creating a new filming schedule moving forward.

Meeting up

Because we already created our story board, Katie and I are planning on shooting over spring break. Our classmate lilah is going to assist us when filming. We are super excited to film because we are also making it a sleepover! We are going to create a shooting schedule soon, but we know we are going to film on Wednesday-Thursday. We are planning on using my dad's camera, a Nikon D3500 and his tripod.

Creating storyboard

Katie and I created a storyboard with specific detail and layout to help organize our film opening. When predicting our film it is extremely important we layout all of our scenes write down our creative thoughts, and then physically illustrate it in our opening.  Similar to this storyboard, I created something based off of each scene.

Characterization

For "The hostage" Film opening, there will be 2 characters. A young girl and a Child kidnapper. The Young Girl (Talya) I will be playing the role of the young girl, the protagonist. The girl will remain nameless and be portrayed as innocent and clueless.  For this representation to be portrayed, features including ponytails with bow, pjs, and very natural face makeup (costume). Furthermore, the young girl will have her stuffed animal that she is very affectionate of (prop) and a children's book to project her as an innocent girl.  Boo from Monsters Inc. will be our inspiration. Although Boo is extremely young than our actor (me), we can still revolve our character around her. Both characters find something in their house that doesn't belong and seems unusual, Boo having the monsters and the young girl having the kidnapper. Both characters are being represented as innocent by their costume; Ponytails, baby face, and pjs.   2. The Kidnapper (Katie) Katie will be the r...

Brainstorming our film opening

While watching previously done examples of film openings, Katie and I started sorting out our plan. We already decided on the title "Abducted", to express key component of the film which the little girl becoming hostage. The plot we created a young girl being scared of the dark, reading herself a bedtime story while she finds herself in the hands of a child kidnapper. To express the Horror genre we want to include typical features of a horror film. For mise en scene, we are planning to include dim lighting, creepy setting (dark bedroom), blood, weapon, torn up clothes, stuffed animal, and messy hair.  For our first scene, we have an idea of the young girl brushing her teeth and getting ready for bed, while she is doing her nighttime routine she experiences weird sounds, movements, and figures in the house. The young girl is going to be the protagonist of the film while the child kidnapper is the antagonist. Our classmate offered her help to record our scenes, because we are o...
